After work on Thursday Jason and Cassie met me downtown to watch the city's firework show. We knew that they were expecting over a million people, but I don't think we had any clue how many people that really is! The Chicago Symphony Orchestra performed in one of the parks before the show so we went and listened for a while. Although it was a battle to find somewhere to sit it was well worth it. Jason got a few pictures of the crowd as we were trying to walk home. The lines for public transportation went on for blocks.

I had the day off on Friday so we opted for something with a few less people. We headed up to Port Washington with our bikes, and rode part of the Ozaukee Interurban Trail. In total we did about 23miles which was more than enough for me!
We started at the Marina where they were having quite the July 4th celebration. It was a cute little town that made you feel like you were on the east coast.

One of the covered bridges that we rode through. We thought swimming sounded nice until we got to the rivers. They are still recovering from all of the flooding in the region, so they look more like chocolate than water.

That orchestra you heard was the Grant Park Symphony, not the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. And they used to play music FOR the fireworks, too, which was way cooler than the radio tunes!
